We are looking for organized, self-motivated, creative individuals to join the local Indy board! AIGA has a commitment to public good, social impact, and civic engagement by demonstrating design’s problem-solving value while reinforcing AIGA’s leadership and influence. We hope to find people who are passionate about developing and sustaining our wonderful creative community.

1. VP of Operations
As a member of the executive team, the responsibility of the VP of Operations is to facilitate internal communication, documentation, and logistics within the Board. He/she is vital to making sure the board runs smoothly, can access our internal resources, and documenting as we go along.  If you love design and creativity but want an opportunity to use your left brain process skills, this is the position for you.

  • Creates a good system of record for notes and resources within the google drive
  • Manage Job Board Submissions on website
  • Takes notes and documents all board meetings
  • Orders food for board meetings
  • Counts and records all board votes
  • Knows where resources are and how to share them all
  • Oversees and tracks the content and distribution of the storage unit items
  • Helps coordinated board events with VP Affairs
  • Help recognize board members important life events and accomplishments
  • Helps organize internal communication systems, slack, drive
  • Oversees that all AIGA public records are up to date (aiga.org, wiki, etc)

2. Professional Development Director

The responsibility of the Professional Development Director is to identify areas within creative community to where we can provide programming or resources to develop careers and understand the changing landscape of our profession. He/ She should work with the Design Ability team to plan and execute on such programming and initiatives recruiting additional volunteers as necessary. This role should strive to make Indianapolis a well educated and prepared community that can play a role in elevating the design professional nationally and locally.

  • Overseas Design Ability team’s strategy and objectives, making sure they align with the boards
  • Sends reports of the team’s monthly meeting to President and added to drive
  • Identifies areas that the Indianapolis membership and creative community needs programming or resources that can help their careers and know more about the changing landscape of our profession.
  • Strives to make Indianapolis a well educated and prepared community that can play a role in elevating the design professional nationally and locally.
  • Works with the Education Director regarding related student and professional programming.
  • Keeps relationships with leaders at agencies and creative firms in town. Especially that of Group members.

3. Professional Development Team Member

Creatives of all types need to continually learn their craft and how to develop professionally. AIGA wants to be a resource for our members trying to grow in different ways. We hope to create conversation amongst members and hot topics through roundtables, inspire new goals by hearing speakers, and introduce them to the right people with studio tours. In addition to those, this committee is responsible for always thinking about how AIGA can be a better resource for our members as they grow in their career. If you’re interested in raising the bar of design for Indianapolis, this is the right committee for you.

4. Design Impact Team Member

AIGA has a commitment to public good, social impact, and civic engagement by demonstrating design’s problem-solving value while reinforcing AIGA’s leadership and influence. The Design Impact Team identifies opportunities where we can show up in the Indianapolis community and make an impact or educate others about the value of design. We do that through events like Design thinking for Kids, GUTS, and group discussions about neighborhood issues. If you’re constantly looking around you and thinking about how design can make this city a better place, this is the right committee for you.
