April Greiman is a thinker, designer, and artist, whose transmedia projects address all areas and scales of design—from communications to textiles to architecture to new media. Throughout a career spanning four decades, she became one of the first proponents of adapting desktop computer technology in graphic design, and helped pioneer the “New Wave” typography approach that would define her generation.

Today she is widely recognized as one of America’s most influential graphic designers. Greiman has held faculty positions at the California Institute of Arts, Southern California Institute of Architecture, and is currently a professor of design at the Roski School of Art and Design at the University of Southern California. Her multidisciplinary design consultancy, Made in Space, explores communications design collaboratively with architects, urban planners, and city/civic agencies in an effort to create built environments that are distinctive, enduringly beautiful, and easier to live in.
